National Antique Shops Directory
Bargaining with antique shops is not that difficult once you learn how to work with them. Before attempting to bargain with an antique shop on prices, try to establish some type of cordial relationship with them. Even if you end up not buying an item from their store, you may get some information that will save you money on purchases of other antique items you may find. At the very least, most antique shops will steer you away from making a bad value purchase if they have already had a friendly rapport with you.
For anyone who is serious about collecting antiques, enlisting the aid of a more experienced antique dealer can help them learn to distinguish legitimate antiques from knockoffs and fakes. This type of mentoring relationship can often benefit both parties as the novice collector may be able to find valuable items for the antique dealer to buy for their own store. If you are lucky enough to have a seasoned dealer to work with, be sure to listen to any knowledge they wish to share. Many of these older antique dealers have inside information that can help you make some great finds.
